Women's Cocktail Collective

At Montanya Distillers, we believe that good spirits deserve good cocktails. We also believe the makers of both deserve to be recognized and their products celebrated—regardless of gender.

It’s why we’re so excited to share two cocktails created as part of our partnership with the Women’s Cocktail Collective. It’s a collaboration between leading female spirits producers to raise the voices of all women in the alcohol beverage industry, and we’re so proud to be a member.

For Montanya Owner and Founder Karen Hoskin, the Women’s Cocktail Collective represents the coming together of two groups long underrepresented in the alcohol beverage industry: female distillers/distillery owners and female bartenders.

For too long, members of both have struggled to be recognized and supported. (For a crash course in some of the barriers to success, check out Montanya’s commitment to gender diversity or this informative article on Toast that features some of Karen’s insights.)

The Collective highlights and promotes both groups through incredible events like pop-up bars and collaboration between its members—like the creation of two new cocktails at Montanya Distillers: The Fall Manhattan and a twist on the Jungle Bird.

Both feature Montanya Rums and products made by fellow members and founders/owners that Karen knows and admires: Kiki Braverman of Pür Spirits and Genevieve Brazelton of the Bitter Housewife.

Karen selected the spirits as a nod to her longtime friendship with or reverence for both women, having every confidence that she deeply respected the people and the products they make. The Jungle Bird features Pür Spirits Amaro and Bitter Housewife Lime Coriander Bitters. And the Fall Manhattan makes use of Pür Spirits Amaro and Williams Pear, and Bitter Housewife Cardamom Bitters. What fun ingredients to play with!

We’ve include the recipes below so you can try them yourself. And if you’d love more ways to support women-owned businesses, mark your calendars for Women Led Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving.
